A one-day seminar was successfully organized by the College Debating & Seminar Committee of Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, on April 16, 2026, to commemorate the 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The seminar revolved around the theme “Social Justice and the Indian Constitution.”

The event commenced with the inauguration of the newly renovated college auditorium by the Head of the Department of Education, Prof. Sakeena Akhter. The ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmed Malik, along with faculty members and students.

Prof. Mohd. Zubair-ud-Din, Coordinator of the event, highlighted the immense contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. In his address, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmed Malik emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about the rights enshrined in the Indian Constitution, particularly among the downtrodden and underprivileged sections of society.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, with a total of 10 participants presenting their perspectives on the theme. The speakers eloquently discussed Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of social justice, equality, and democratic values, reflecting deep understanding and critical insight.

The event provided a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange and academic engagement, showcasing the scholarly spirit of the institution. Participants were evaluated on the basis of content, clarity, and presentation skills.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the top three participants were awarded medals in recognition of their outstanding performances. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Osia Majeed, who appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee, participants, and distinguished guests in making the seminar a meaningful and successful academic endeavor.
