Awareness Programme Organized by CWASC in Collaboration with IMHANS under NMBA on 25th of May 2026 at Gandhi memorial College, Srinagar

An awareness programme on drug abuse prevention under the NMBA campaign was organised by CWASC, Gandhi Memorial College in collaboration with District Administration Srinagar on 21st May 2026 at 12:00 PM in the Conference Hall of the college.

The Annual Cycle Race for Boys 2026 was organized successfully today by the college with great enthusiasm and participation from students. The event commenced from Nehru Park and culminated at the historic Shalimar Garden amidst a spirit of sportsmanship, fitness, and youth engagement.

Gandhi Memorial College successfully organized an awareness programme titled “Safe Women, Strong Society” in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority under the aegis of the college’s Internal Complaints Committee (POSH Act).

A women-led “Nasha Mukht Awareness Drive” was organized by CWASC under the banner of NMBA with the active participation of NSS volunteers of the college. The awareness campaign aimed at sensitizing the local community, particularly women, about the growing menace of drug abuse and the collective responsibility of society in combating this social evil.

The Internal Complaints Committee (IIC) of the college organized an awareness programme for the staff today in the Conference Hall. The session, titled “Creating Safe Campuses: Addressing Sexual Harassment in Educational Institutions”, aimed to sensitize faculty and staff about fostering a safe and inclusive environment within academic institutions.

A parent awareness workshop on “Early Warning Signs” was organised by CWASC under the banner of the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan at Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar. The programme aimed to sensitize parents about the growing concerns related to substance abuse among youth and the importance of identifying behavioural and psychological warning signs at an early stage.

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar organized an awareness programme on Sexual Harassment of Women on 6th May 2026 in the college conference hall. The programme was coordinated by the Convener ICC, Prof. Fouzia Hamid, with the objective of creating awareness among students regarding women’s safety, dignity, and legal rights within educational institutions.

The Department of Physics & Electronics, Government Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar organized a one-day seminar on “Emerging Technologies” on 5th May 2026 in the College Conference Hall. The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Mufeed Bashir, Faculty on AA in Computer Applications. The programme witnessed active participation from students belonging to the disciplines of Physics, Electronics, and Computer Applications, reflecting an interdisciplinary academic engagement.

Department of Pol Sc is Organizing a seminar on Climate Change

A heartfelt farewell party was organized on 30th April 2026 at Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, to honor the superannuation of Prof. Fatima Akhter, Head of the Department of Botany, who retired after rendering 33 years of dedicated and exemplary service to the institution.

The Department of Physical Education, Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, successfully organized the Annual Road Race for Boys and Girls 2026 along the scenic route from Fore Shore Road to Nishat Garden. The event was flagged off by the worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmad Malik, in the presence of faculty members and staff of the college. A total of 103 students participated enthusiastically in the race, displaying remarkable endurance, discipline, and sportsmanship.

A one-day seminar on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was successfully organized by the NSS Wing of the college in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Police Department on 25 April 2026. The seminar was conducted under the compelling theme, “Why Dreams and Drugs Can’t Coexist,” aiming to spread awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to inspire them towards a healthy, goal-oriented life.

The Tug of War event was organized with great enthusiasm and active participation from the college community. The competition brought together students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere on campus.

An orientation programme for staff members was successfully organized by Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar on 17th April 2026 in the college conference hall. The programme witnessed the active participation of all teaching and non-teaching staff, reflecting a collective commitment towards institutional development and policy awareness.

A one-day seminar was successfully organized by the College Debating & Seminar Committee of Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, on April 16, 2026, to commemorate the 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The seminar revolved around the theme “Social Justice and the Indian Constitution.”

A pledge ceremony under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was conducted on 15th April 2026 at Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, following the culmination of the weekly assembly. The event was held under the esteemed chairmanship of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Masood Ahmed Malik.

A one-day seminar on the theme “Mental Health & Its Upkeep” was successfully organized by the NSS Wing of the college on 13th April 2026 under the initiative of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The seminar aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of mental well-being and the harmful impact of substance abuse on mental health.
