A women-led “Nasha Mukht Awareness Drive” was organized by CWASC under the banner of NMBA with the active participation of NSS volunteers of the college. The awareness campaign aimed at sensitizing the local community, particularly women, about the growing menace of drug abuse and the collective responsibility of society in combating this social evil.
A dedicated team of NSS volunteers led by Prof. Abida Manzoor visited more than 45 households in the adjacent locality. During the door-to-door awareness campaign, the volunteers interacted with housewives and homemakers and briefed them about the early signs and indications of drug abuse among youth and adolescents. They also highlighted the serious physical, psychological, social and economic consequences of substance abuse on individuals, families and society at large.
The team further discussed preventive measures and emphasized the importance of vigilance, open communication within families, moral guidance and community participation in curbing the menace of drugs. Informative discussions were held regarding the role of mothers and women in identifying behavioral changes among children at an early stage and taking timely corrective measures.
Prof. Abida Manzoor, while addressing the women of the locality, encouraged them to come forward and join hands with CWASC in its mission to eradicate this curse from society. She stressed that women, being the backbone of families and communities, can play a pivotal role in spreading awareness and safeguarding the younger generation from falling prey to addiction.
The awareness drive received a positive response from the residents, who appreciated the initiative taken by the college under the banner of NMBA. The programme concluded with a collective pledge to work together towards building a drug-free and healthy society.
